Cosmic Champs Drop Genesis NFTs
Algorand based game protocol Cosmic Champs has dropped their second round of genesis season launch NFTs. The community were eager to jump on the opportunity to acquire these highly sought-after NFTs, with the drop so far amassing over 80,000 ALGOs in sales volume. The Cosmic Champs Genesis are set to unlock high levels of utility for users including exclusive priority to their forthcoming closed beta. The closed beta is set to launch in Q3 2022.
Dequency Launch their v1 Platform
The Algorand based decentralized music sync licensing marketplace Dequency has now launched allowing users to both contribute music and license it on the platform. Dequency is the first product of its kind built on blockchain as it aims to revolutionize music sync licensing. The Dequency platform is already packed full of audio that users can license and will become more full in the coming weeks as users begin contributing to the platform.
Digital Economist Awarded Algorand Foundation Grant
The Algorand Foundation have this week awarded a grant to global impact firm The Digital Economist. As part of the deal The Digital Economist will work on developing a framework for an improved governance model for Algorand to utilize.
“A responsible governance system is key to achieving a sustainable and inclusive decentralized economy,” says Founder and CEO of The Digital Economist, Navroop Sahdev.
“We envision that Ostrom’s design principles, once integrated into blockchain protocols, can achieve optimum decentralization while protecting community resources and maximizing the reliability of blockchain networks. This collaboration marks a key milestone in the ecosystem, with Alogrand leading the way for decentralized community governance for other protocols to follow suit.”
Algofi Announce Q3 Launches
Algorand based AAM protocol Algofi has confirmed the launch of both their V2 protocol and token/governance launch are set to take place in the coming months. The V2 version of protocol is set to see the introduction of unlimited assets in our fully composable cross-collateral lending market, full ledger support, and no more giant transaction groups. Algofi governance will enable community voting on the future of Algofi. The initial distribution will be made to Algofi LPs based on protocol activity and contribution. Algofi governors will vote on parameters, token emissions, and more.
Algorand Hire New Global Head of Business Development and Capital Markets
Algorand have this week announced the appointment of former JP Morgan Managing Director Eric Wragge as their new Global Head of Business Development and Capital Markets. Wragge enjoyed a more than 20-year tenure at JP Morgan where he most recently served as Managing Director in structured finance and head of Asset Backed Securities for Northern Europe.
“Eric Wragge has the vision, deep experience, and technical chops to deliver significant opportunities for Algorand across financial markets of all kinds,” said Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden.
“He will be transformational for our ability to deliver innovative and disruptive solutions for many of the problems that plague traditional finance today, and I could not be more excited to have him on board.”
Limewire Launch Marketplace and Confirm Collaborations
Limewire have officially relaunched its marketplace announcing a number of collaborations with artists including Travis Barker, Brandy, Nicky Jam, Aitch, Dillon Francis, FitLit Club, and more. The web1 legacy brand is relaunching as a web3 NFT marketplace powered by the Algorand blockchain. All of the aforementioned artists will be dropping exclusive NFT collections on the LimeWire marketplace in the coming weeks.
New Algorand CTO Appointed
Algorand has announced the appointment of John Woods as its new Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining Algorand, Woods was the Director of Cardano Architecture at Input Output Global, the company the parent company of Cardano.
"Algorand has best-in-class tech when it comes to speed, scale and security," said Woods. "So improving the user experience is now the most important catalyst for Algorand's mass adoption, and I am very excited to deliver on that."
Algorand Partner with Lightblue to Facilitate Decipher
Algorand have partnered with globally renowned creative experience agency Lightblue who will be tasked with facilitating this year’s Decipher Conference in Dubai. This will be the second time the event has been held at Madinat Jumeirah Conference and Events Centre on Dubai’s luxurious waterfront from 28-30 November. Lightblue has headquarters both in Dubai and Los Angeles and have facilitated event campaigns for a who’s who of global brands including Playstation, Adidas, Puma, Sephora, Burberry, and more.
Crypto Winter Opportunity for Algorand
Popular blockchain journalist Rachel Wolfson recently penned an interesting piece in Coin Telegraph detailing what she believes to be a valuable opportunity for Algorand during the current crypto bear market. Her piece explains that cracks are beginning to show in the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem giving robust layer-1s like Algorand the ability to fill the void with their technology solutions.
